Body empowerment to me means: accepting your body, understanding that your body goes through different stages and loving the process. Nowadays technology and science has made it difficult to love your self. There are all these “flawless-looking” women and men we see in the media and holds us to unrealistic standards. We need to recognize that beauty comes from within and in all different shapes and sizes.
After my fifth child, which was almost 4 years ago, I decided to start going to the gym. It was pretty intimidating at first but I decided it was time to take care of myself. One day I decided to try BollyX and it was so much fun! I was dripping in sweat at the end of the class, not to mention it was easy to follow and made me feel amazing. I continued going to BollyX for months. No other group fitness class made me feel so excited to come back and continue to get better and better. I loved BollyX so much that I decided to become an instructor myself.
When I went to the instructor training class I asked myself “What did I get myself into???” I was scared yet excited. I had no dance background at all. All I knew was that I loved BollyX and I wanted to share it with my community. After a lot of hard work it paid off. Today, I am a BollyX instructor and ACE Group Fitness certified.
I have learned that valuing my self-worth is the start of an amazing life. We all have the power of
recognizing our own beauty. Getting to my fitness goal is going to take time because I have kids to take care of, a towing business to run, and because I love pizza. But my goal is set and I will take it a day at a time. After all, slow and steady wins the race.
I continue spread my love for BollyX because I know it will make people feel amazing and confident.
I hope to motivate people and tell them that they are beautiful exactly how they are and to love them self first. Life is tough and we need to give our self more credit for everything we do. Don’t chase perfection chase happiness.
