Zuliya is a rockstar instructor in San Diego! When she’s not teaching, she’s a real estate broker discovering her new love of vegan cooking. Learn more about Zuliya in her interview below!
Q: Tell us about yourself – what do you do when you’re not teaching? What are your hobbies? What other formats do you teach? Give us a little on your background.
A: I was born in the former Soviet Union, in one of the Soviet states called Uzbekistan. Bollywood movies were a huge part of our lives since the Western movies were banned during Soviet times. Growing up back home, my cousins and I would binge on Bollywood classics every weekend at our house and dance to the songs from our favorite movies. I moved to the Unites States in the winter of 1996 with my parents as political refugees. When I am not teaching, I work as a Real Estate Broker. I do a wide range of consulting work for real estate development companies in Southern California. I recently became very passionate about vegan cooking. On my spare time, I develop and cook healthy vegan recipes and share them with my friends and followers on Instagram. In addition to BollyX, I also teach Zumba Fitness and POUND.
Q: How would you describe BollyX in one word?
A: Dynamite! Every song I teach during my BollyX class is like an explosion of feelings! I connect to my students through each dance and bring out their inner Rockstar!
Q: What is your favorite part of BollyX class?
A: Wow, that’s a hard one! I love every second of BollyX class, but if you would make me pick, I would say the cool-down. I love watching my students connecting with their bodies and souls during the cool down, dripping sweat and realizing what an amazing work out they just had. It’s really mind blowing! 🙂
Q: How has working with BollyX changed you?
A: It really made me a better instructor. I absolutely love being a part of this family!
Q: How long have you been with BollyX?
A: It was my one year anniversary this January!
Q: What is your favorite BollyX song to teach?
A: I think my most favorite song is Gallan Goodiyaan. My class loves it too. It’s easy to follow routine that starts mellow then picks it up in a fun beat.
Q: Where do you teach BollyX?
A: I teach at the Bay Club Carmel Valley and the Boys and Girls Club in Carmel Valley. Also, I offer my BollyX classes at the various corporate businesses such as Qualcomm, Sony and ResMed for their wellness programs.
