BollyX Instructor, Rachel, is one of our rockstars teaching in Chicago, IL! Part trombonist, part BollyX instructor, and wholly awesome, Rachel teaches a variety of dance fitness formats across many Chicagoland gyms. Learn more about this phenomenal instructor in her interview below!
Q: Tell us about yourself – what do you do when you’re not teaching? What are your hobbies? What other formats do you teach? Give us a little on your background.
A: I live in Lincoln Park with my husband and two cats. My husband and I are both professional trombonists based in the Chicago area.
The other formats I teach are yoga, yoga sculpt, kids yoga, and Zumba. I love taking yoga, dance and fitness classes! When it isn’t freezing cold outside, I also enjoy running by the lake.
I like watching movies and documentaries, listening to music, and reading non-fiction books. I love learning, and I love a good conversation!
Q: How would you describe BollyX in one word?
A: Expression!
Q: What is your favorite part of BollyX class?
A: All parts! I love the experience. It’s like going to hear a symphony, and each movement has it’s own character that brings something to the piece as a whole. Each and every class is all about how the choreography and songs fit together to create a physical and energetic balance.
Q: How has working with BollyX changed you?
A: I feel like I am a part of a really special community. The people I have met through BollyX have helped me realize that everyone can have a different path, and when we collaborate those varied experiences unite us to be stronger as a whole.
Q: How long have you been with BollyX?
A: I started in September 2015.
