Q: Tell us about yourself – what do you do when you’re not teaching? What are your hobbies? What other formats do you teach? Give us a little on your background.
A: After living most of my life in a lazy unhealthy manner, I discovered Dance Fitness five years ago and it has been my biggest passion ever since. I used to live in Germany until almost two years ago and used to be a full-time office girl and part-time Zumba Instructor. Dancing and sweating with my students has always been the highlight of my day! After taking a vacation in California, I realized how much I loved the beach flair and easy-going lifestyle and wanted that in my life permanently. I am a huge believer in following your dreams and living life to the fullest, so I decided to follow my heart, re-locate to Orange County, California and become a full-time dance fitness instructor. I am so glad all of these decisions led me to BollyX! When I am not teaching and/or dancing, I still find that the beach is my favorite place to be to re-energize. You could say I am living the American dream!
Q: How would you describe BollyX in one word?
A: There are so many positive words and feelings that go through my mind when I think about BollyX, but the most important one would probably be FUN! I have experienced usually quiet participants with two left feet, having the time of their life and coming out of their shell in a BollyX class as the format is so easy to follow, diversified and captivating.
Q: What is your favorite part of BollyX class?
A: Definitely the performance part! For me as an instructor it is the greatest reward and best feeling to see my participants succeed. The repetition of a shorter routine gives everyone a chance to really ‘get it’. This lets them focus on other things, such as energy level, facial expressions, attitude and communicating with fellow participants through dance!
Q: How has working with BollyX changed you or your lifestyle?
A: BollyX has opened a whole new world of dance and music for me and showed me that if you are open-minded and willing to work for what you want and love, you can do anything you set your mind to.
Q: How long have you been with BollyX and what got you started?
A: My journey with BollyX so far has been short, but powerful! I took my first class about six months ago as the format was recommended to me by one of my business partners – she knew it would be the perfect fit for me. It was completely a being at the right place at the right time experience.
Q: What is your favorite BollyX song to teach?
A: Tough question! I feel like that changes a lot, but looking back on the past 6 months, I would say ‘It’s my Birthday’. Funny how only five years ago, I could have never seen myself doing a wide squat voluntarily, let alone hold it for a whole song…
Q: Where do you teach BollyX?
A: At the moment I teach at two locations in Orange County. One is Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo and the other one is the Racquet Club in Laguna Niguel. I am planning on adding even more clubs and/or studios to this list soon!
