This week’s instructor spotlight is on Utah rockstar, Hannah! She’s a BollyX instructor with a flair for creating custom made cosplay costumes. Read on to find out more about this rocking instructor!
Q: Tell us about yourself – what do you do when you’re not teaching? What are your hobbies? What other formats do you teach? Give us a little on your background.
A: I am a Certified Personal Trainer with NASM and teach BollyX, Cardio Circuit Toning, and Bootcamp. I also have a side business where I make a sell custom made cosplay costumes, which is a little random but I love cosplay and love sharing my talents with others who can’t make their own costumes but still want to dress up. I love many things but I suppose my true passions are exercise, sewing, and camping.
Q: How would you describe BollyX in one word?
A: If I was to describe BollyX in one word, I would say exhausting! However, I don’t feel like that is a bad thing. I love feeling like I am tired and have accomplished something after a workout, and I definitely feel that after a BollyX class.
Q: What is your favorite part of BollyX class?
A: My favorite part of a BollyX class is when we are doing a particularly intense song and I can see my students pushing themselves to make it all the way through. The look of accomplishment they have after they are done is so powerful.
Q: How has working with BollyX impacted you or your lifestyle?
A: I don’t know if BollyX has really changed me per se, but it does make me happy! I have loved Bollywood since seeing my first movie in college and was so excited when I found out that my gym was picking it up. All it took was one class and I was hooked.
Q: How long have you been with BollyX and what inspired you to join the community?
A:I have been an instructor since September 2015. We only had one instructor at our gym, and when I found out she was moving and there would be no more BollyX I was so depressed. When she started talking about an instructor training coming up, I knew I had to do it. I loved the class so much and didn’t want to stop just because the instructor was moving and there was no replacement. I am so glad I got certified and now get to share a workout that I love with other people.
Q: What is your favorite BollyX song to teach?
A: My favorite song to teach is Tu Meri! I loved it when we would perform it in class and when I found out we could purchase old choreography I immediately went to the website and bought it. It was totally worth the money! I use it all my classes and can’t resist bringing it back every so often once I take it out of the rotation.
Q: Where do you teach BollyX?
A: I teach BollyX at Copperview Rec Center, Sports Mall, and Curves.
